Black women are less likely to be screened, and are not properly diagnosed or provided treatment prior to a crisis. We recognize and honor the unique lived experiences of underserved Black women and birthing parents, providing culturally-tailored support that acknowledges the intersections of race, culture, and maternal mental health.
While screening for symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) is a clinical standard among maternity care doctors, these symptoms are mostly “managed” — not prevented nor treated with convenient, culturally-responsive options like virtual group coaching from skilled peers and same-week referrals into therapy.
By prioritizing maternal mental health, you demonstrate your commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace culture where employees feel valued and supported.
